Question
Please give us an account of the Nusayris. Are they Shi'a who are considered outside correct Islamic belief?
Answer (English translation)
Answer: The Nusayris are a group of the esoteric sects, a group of the esoteric Rafidah who secretly deify Ali and regard him as a deity. This is what is known about them. Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah wrote a short treatise exposing them, explaining their false beliefs and that they are among the esoteric Rafidah who go to extremes concerning Ali. They are not upon Islam, even if they outwardly profess it. Rather, they are among the esoteric Rafidah who deify Ali and consider him a deity. We ask Allah for well-being and safety. They do not accept Islam or follow the Islam followed by Muslims.
The same applies to the Ja'fari Twelver Rafidah known today in Iran. They are called the Rafidah, the Twelvers and the Imamiyyah. Their foundations are corrupt: they hold that their imams know the unseen and are infallible; they invoke them besides Allah, seek rescue from them and make vows to them, and other such matters. The foundations of the esoteric Rafidah, their groups and their sects are all corrupt foundations contrary to the law of Allah, Mighty and Majestic. We ask Allah for well-being and safety.
