Methodology and Limitations

This page explains source attribution, the distinction between original text, translation and summary, and the limits of transcription checks. An entry’s presence on the website or a passing software check does not establish complete scholarly review.

Sources and attribution

Each entry is attributed to its named work or provider, with page numbers or hadith and fatwa references where available. Original text, source notes and editorial comments must remain distinct. The source directory does not replace an entry’s own attribution.

What verification does and does not establish

Page-order checks, quotation comparisons and passing software tests do not establish independent scholarly review of every entry. Publication does not by itself establish a specialist reviewer or official endorsement. Any verification note must be read within its stated scope.

Translations and summaries

Qur’anic meanings, the Arabic Qur’an and tafsir are different kinds of content. Editorial translations and summaries may condense their source and must not be treated as verbatim quotations. Consult the Arabic original and edition details for exact wording and context. Coverage may differ between Arabic and English.

Missing material and dates

Notices about unavailable pages or text must be retained; missing content is not completed from memory. A review date is shown only when documented. A publication date or software update is not necessarily a scholarly review date.

Editorial assistance and its limits

Search, summarisation and translation tools, including AI, are not independent authorities for authenticating hadith or issuing fatwas and religious rulings. Attribution and wording must be checked against the source; presentation or a hyperlink alone does not establish accuracy.

Fatwas and changing information

General fatwas do not replace advice from a qualified scholar about an individual case. Prayer times, calendar, Qibla and calculations depend on settings and should be checked with relevant local authorities. Educational Hajj material does not establish current travel, permit or scheduling rules.

Rights and sources

Texts and translations remain attributed to their rights holders. Attribution is not an open licence; reuse is subject to the rights holder’s terms.
