Ruling on Attending the Sermons and Admonitions of One Who Practices the Innovation of the Mawlid

Question

Regarding preachers and admonishers who hold such innovations and the like: is it permissible to listen to their admonitions — especially if they are good, containing nothing objectionable, and encouraging good admonition of the people?

Answer (English translation)

Praise be to Allah. The truth is not confined to their admonitions and sermons. If your going to their admonitions and sermons would cause people to be deceived by them because you attended, then do not go — whatever good they have can be found elsewhere.

But if you go in order to refute their error, that is better.
