Islam continued to spread among Quraysh, among men and women. Quraysh detained those it could seize and tried to turn Muslims away from their religion. The account continues from ‘Utbah’s meeting: he had heard the Messenger recite Qur’an and advised Quraysh to leave him alone, but the persecution did not cease.
