May Allah bless you. The next question is from listener A.A.A., a Sudanese residing in Riyadh, who says: We have in Sudan a group of people who call themselves the family of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). This group does things that have no basis in the Sharia: they claim to be righteous saints, and from time to time they tour the country and are received by the common folk with chants and welcome, and people present them with gifts and offerings — even though the people are in dire need of them — believing that these bring them blessing and goodness from this group. Does any remnant of the family of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) exist in our time? And are these practices they carry out permissible, as well as the way they are received?

A question from Sister Salih from Iraq, the latest. She says: some people, when supplicating Allah, say 'Our Lord, by their standing with You' — meaning the standing of the awliya' and the righteous. May Allah bless you. This questioner, H.H. from Riyadh, says in his first question: it is said that when the disbeliever is placed in the grave and Munkar and Nakir come to him, they come in terrifying and frightening forms. Does the believer see Munkar and Nakir in the same form in which the disbeliever sees them? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.

This letter is from a questioner in Karachi, Pakistan, who says: we are students in Karachi, and we live on an island outside the city that has one mosque in which the prayer is held. However, we have observed practices whose correctness we do not know: first, the iqamah is made like the adhan, and sometimes even longer; second, they do not straighten the rows and leave gaps in them; third, they race the imam in bowing and prostrating and end the prayer with him; fourth, after the two sunnah rak'ahs they pray two rak'ahs seated; fifth, after the evening prayer they shake their heads forward and backward and breathe deeply, then the imam mumbles words we do not understand. What is your view of these practices? Is it permissible for us to pray at home, or should we pray in this mosque — separately or with them? Tell us what is best, may Allah reward you.

The third issue: when sending prayers upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), sometimes — while listening to a saying or action of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) — we are impressed and pleased and say: 'You spoke the truth, O my master, O Messenger of Allah,' or 'Peace and blessings be upon you, O my master, O Messenger of Allah.' Is that permissible — I mean the vocative particle 'ya' and the second-person pronoun? And is it permissible in our supplication to say: 'O Allah, grant us the intercession of Muhammad'? Please advise us, may you be rewarded, and we ask Allah to grant us and you success.
